Short Track: Arianna Fontana wins the silver in the 500 metres
Arianna Fontana proves herself yet again in short track by winning the silver in the 500 metres at the end of a hard fought and incredible race. This third Italian medal in Sochi (the first female) carries her authoritative trademark. Hampered by Britain's Elise Christie Ariadne, after the fall that also involved the Korean Seung - Hi Park, she got back on her feet and crossed the finishing line in third, but the disqualification of Christie partially made up for it by giving her second place.
The Italian is on her third Olympic podium, and the second at individual level. In Turin 2006, at the age of 15 years and ten months, she became the youngest medalist in the history of the Italian Winter Games, winning bronze in the 3000m relay. In Vancouver 2010, she was awarded the bronze medal in the 500 metres, her favorite race.
