CONI-SAMSUNG: Agreement for Sochi, introduced the Galaxy Team. Kicks off “Ola Azzurra”, initiative to build school sports facilities. Malagò: “We will do better than Vancouver”

Samsung-Galax-TeamThe Samsung–CONI agreement has been introduced today in Milan for the next Winter Olympic Games that will take place in Sochi from 7 to 23 February 2014. The President of the CONI Giovanni Malagò, together with the President of Samsung Electronics Italy, Sung Wan Myung, and the Vice president Carlo Barlocco, have presented the joint initiatives planned for the next Olympiad. Samsung, top sponsor of the CIO, in collaboration with the CONI will support the “Galaxy Team” activity which is composed of five azzurri athletes: Armin Zoggeler, two times luge olympic champion, who has participated six times  in these Games, will be the Italian flag bearer in Sochi; Christof Innerhofer, gold in the Super-G at the Alpine Skiing World 2011; Arianna Fontana, bronze medal in the Short track in Vancouver 2010; Omar Visintin, snowboarder, third in the final standings of the World Cup 2012/2013; Melania Corradini, silver in Super-G at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games.

On the basis of the experience gained in London 2012, Samsung also launched the project "Ola Azzurra" to support sport in Italian schools. With “Ola Azzurra” Samsung will finance the construction and renovation of sports facilities in two Italian schools: the Comprehensive School Rinnovata Pizzigoni of Milan and the State Comprehensive School San Luca-Bovalino of San Luca, in the province of Reggio Calabria. Both schools are identified by their significant history among the numerous institutes asking daily to support the Olympic Committee. To participate, simply register your "ola" or upload the videos directly to www.samsung.it/sochi2014. Samsung will donate €5 to charity for every "ola" shared.
