Warm temperatures at Sochi 2014 trigger use of stored snow

Sochi Olympics organisers began shovelling snow stored since last winter on to the race piste. On Tuesday, after rising temperatures threatened the quality of the track surfaces in the mountains. At noon, weather reports showed the temperature on peaks at -6C while on the lower levels of the mountain cluster it was 6C. Sochi organisers say they anticipated the possibility of a lack of snow and are ready to react accordingly.
